Cheap Prop Dropper
I've settled on using 12 volts for the cheap prop dropper. This will require the use of a wall wart for power but it gives many more options for suplus motors and solenoids.
I'm going to try using thsi motor from allelectronics.com (Cat# DCM-351) for $10

Cheap Prop Dropper
Two motors arrived today from SurplusSales.com that are candidates for the Cheap Prop Dropper prototype. This is a 45rpm 24 volt gear reduction motor. I'll test to see how well it works on 12 volts. $10

Here's the other candidate 48 rpm @ 12 volts. $9
